Mikschal "Miki" Johanison is a Buddhist Nun in the Tibetan Tradition, with a military background and a charming Southern drawl. Her ordained name is Yeshi Dolma which is how most of her friends and clients refer to her.  The love she has of the dharma, or pursuit of enlightenment through compassion, led her to the meditative practices. A life threatening stroke and the inspiration of her spiritual teacher led her to study the discipline of acupuncture. She is dedicated to facilitating the healing and balance of all her clients through consultation and treatments.

Sound bites from a conversation with Yeshi Dolma:

"I am not licensed as a nutritionist but have a strong background in nutrition and diet."

-------------------------

"I was a US Army Master Fitness Trainer for many years and have also been very interested in health and well being. I also have a Masters in Mental Health, and again, while I'm not licensed in that particular discipline, I do have experience in working within the field. I have been an adolescent counselor and mentor at various points in time. It makes a nice blend with the Acupuncture training."

-------------------------

"I love being right in the rural homeland of America and doing wonders for the health and well being of people. Acupuncture is safe and it helps give people balance in their lives. This is especially true during stress or grief and during difficult times in general. It is also a great way to tend to yourself when absolutely nothing is happening. One of my patients told me that the extra 5 minutes of laying on the table after the needles were removed was like an extra 5 minute massage for free. I thought that was funny."

-------------------------

"I love the outdoors and believe when we are in sync with nature, we can live full and balanced lives. That is hard to do when we stay 'on the go' and don't stop to listen to our body or the subtle messages in our mind"

-------------------------

"I spent 21 years in the Army having many jobs and assignments in the area of Aviation earlier in my career and the later 15 years with Military Police. I traveled, although I would not say extensively."

-------------------------

"I love gardens of all types, favorite flowers are iris and probably tulips, although roses are nice too. I also enjoy getting my hands into the dirt with vegetable gardening."

-------------------------

"Prior to becoming a nun I did most of my meditation on a lawnmower. I like working really hard, and then relaxing on the sofa after a hot shower."

-------------------------

"I'm a physical person. At the age of 40 I had a stroke, and I believe with every cell in my being that Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo saved my life. So, through the power of acupuncture, which she recommended that I do while in recovery, I experienced a 99% recovery.  I believe that the combo of Acupuncture and Jetsunma's blessings had a lot to do with that!"

-------------------------

"As I am getting older and physical exercise has changed,  I am still aware of being fit (or not). My dream is to have the karma, merit and accomplishment to live the last many years of a long life in retreat. I actually really do want to achieve enlightenment prior to death. I love the beach, seltzer water with lime, and a well done steak. But most of all, I love helping people feel better - and being of benefit however I am able."
