Hi Holistic Folks,
Just wanted to say that we survived "snowmaggedon" (one of the many nicknames given to the 20+ inch snowstorm that buried DC/Maryland this past weekend. Hope you all had plenty of Arnica for that muscle soreness. Shoveling snow, sledding mishaps and ice wipe-outs can cause injuries and discomfort. If you are needing a little (or a lot) of pain relief, give me a call and we will schedule an appointment for acupuncture. I was fortunate to be able to help a friend who threw out his back at work to achieve some acute pain relief. Mobility returns without the foggy-headed feeling of pain suppresents or masking agents.

Arnica is a good item to keep on your holistic shopping list, a general pain reliever that is not a harsh on the body as conventional drugs. It comes as an oral supplement or in creams and salves. Always consult your physician though if you are having any lingering pain or if you are unsure about your ability to take certain medicines or remedies.

Acupuncture in non-toxic and no allergic reactions, so I recommend a treatment if the winter obstacles of depression, flu or soreness from lower temperatures or injuries flare up.

Tis the season for thinking of others. And in all the festive Merriment, I certainly hope you will take a moment to breathe, relax and maybe eat one or two items that are not totally categorized under the "Holiday Over-indulgence" column! Seriously though... so many of us enjoy the feasts and family activities during these times that we may get a tad out of balance. If you find yourself enjoying an extra slice of Aunt Betty's Killer Pecan Pie or two more Rum Balls and an Eggnog - well let's just say there is HOPE!

Call your friendly neighborhood acupuncturist for a consultation or a treatment to help with cravings, seasonal adjustment (to weather changes, depression over holiday issues, loneliness, economic fears) or even just to give your body and mind a "tune up" so it is in prime condition for the Matza or Figgy Pudding or (Heaven Forbid) Fruitcake. Take measures to shore up your constitutional well-being for whatever delites your holidays bring.

Dolma will be giving community treatments for charitable donations at the Kunzang Palyul Choling Holiday Bazaar on Saturday December 5th 2009. KPC Buddhist Temple has an annual holiday market that includes a silent auction, baked goods for sale, all manner of items and services for purchase and the proceeds go to support prayer activities for world peace and various animal rescue organizations. What better gifts to give than gifts that benefit the receiver and those in need!

My humble apologies for being so slow between posts - but the news is VERY exciting. First of all we have seen new clients for acupuncture since Poolesville Day, and of course the regulars are getting their treatments too. The most exciting news is the following development:

We are "coming to town"! That is right, We are excited to announce the upcoming location change to:

The Organic Market & Holistic Center.of Poolesville (COMING SOON) Doors will open in the new location some time in January of 2010 at 17710 Elgin Road which is adjacent to the Chevron station in Poolesville. [At the corner of Fisher and Elgin.]

At that time Poolesville Family Acupuncture will be moving in to the organic market.

Poolesville Day - September 19th, 2009

We will be celebrating and participating in the 19th Annual Poolesville Day festivities. Be sure to come out for one of this little town's BIGGEST events. Dolma will be there to meet and answer your questions about the benefits of acupunture and how to get started by making an appointment at Poolesville Family Acupuncture.

Also a big thanks to those of you who came out to our eveny on June 13th in Germantown.

Not 100% sure about acupuncture? Here is your opportunity to attend an informational acupuncture fair and gather information, meet the physician and even sample a treatment. Ani Yeshe Dolma (Miki Johnanison) will be providing information and hosting community treatments in Germantown during an acupuncture fair in Germantown. There will be an informative table set up for attendees and also interested persons can experience a 15 minute treatments for only $15.
